Ok, so here are some pictures from our trip last week to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Considering my amateur status, these pictures are clearly out of order. I'll figure out the posting process later.
These next 2 pictures are of the Mangy Moose bar at the base of Jackson Hole ski resort. It's one of the top apres ski bars in the US. We ate lunch there on Sunday.

So this is where all of those Canadien Geese hang out during the summer. We'll probably see him in Lubbock this fall.
The trip was awesome. We encountered temps in the 30's each morning and up around 80 by the end of the afternoons. We spent a day fishing on the Snake River, a day in Yellowstone National Park and a day split between Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole Ski Resort. The food was great, the flight was 2.5 hours and I didn't want to come back except for the kids.

This is in the Hayden Valley in Yellowstone. You have to zoom in to see this. It's a grizzly sow (mature female) and a cub. They are eating a bison carcass at the edge of the river. Pretty awesome to watch. It was at a safe distance and really hard to see without binos or a zoom lens on a camera.
This bison was in the Hayden Valley at Yellowstone. This is part of the Yellowstone herd. It is thought to be the only free roaming pure bred herd of bison left in the U.S.
This is the Old Faithful Inn. It was built in 1903 and 1904.
Old Faithful in action. It goes off every 1.5 hours give or take 10 minutes. We saw it go twice and there were probably 1000 people at each viewing, mostly foreigners.
This is between Teton and Yellowstone. The reflection in the lake was amazing in person.

Next to the historic square. This is a famous bar in town. You sit in saddles at the bar. Pretty cool.
They have one of these arches at each of the 4 corners of the square. These sheds were collected in the National Elk Refuge on the edge of town by the Boy Scouts.
I thought this was a pretty cool fence at someone's residence in town.
This was at the top of Jackson Hole Ski Resort. About to throw a snowball in late August.
This was Kristi overlooking Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park.
This was while fly fishng on the Snake River. We did a full day trip / float. About 6.5 hours on the water. We caught about 30 fish, all but a few were the famous Snake River Cuthroat. I caught a brown and a couple of whites. I think Kristi caught more than I did.

This is from the tarmac as you get off of the plane at the Jackson airport. Amazing view. Almost fall down the stairs from the plane.

This is a cow moose and calf in a pond near Signal Mountain within Grand Teton National Park. They were probably about 200 yards away and didn't seem too disturbed by our photo taking.

This is the morning looking over the National Elk Refuge. The steam in the background is from the Flat Creek that flows through the refuge. When the snow levels come down the mountains, elk from as far as 100 miles away come to the valley for feed and grazing. There are about 8000 head of elk from December to March. They can come and go at will.
This is myself and our guide (Johnny from Georgia) with the Brown Trout that I caught. He said in 20 years of guiding, he's only seen a handfull of brown's caught on the Snake.
So this is where all of those Canadien Geese hang out during the summer. We'll probably see him in Lubbock this fall.
