September / October (where did it go?)

Well, where did September and October go? I can tell you, from Aggie football game weekends to work and a little sleep in between, it flew by.

Due to weekend travel and age, we were finally able to get Avery to church for the first time. Rather, she was able to go to the nursery while Mom and Dad went to church. Here are Avery and Mom prior to her first trip to church.....

We spent part of one weekend with the Halpins at a family house on Cedar Creek Lake (about an hour and a half from Dallas). Avery was here playing with Mom on the dock.

As Avery has been teething, she sleeps a little less at night, or rather the sleep quality seems to be a little less. So she happens to be really tired around dinner time. Here she is, just too tired to go through with it. I like to call this her Daddy's college class pose. I had an A&M history prof talk to me about sleeping in class, but that's a different story.

Dad and Avery hanging out in the TV room with Dixie.

Avery's first cousin Hunter had his 1st birthday party. Here is Avery dressed for the party.

Hunter was the proud receipient of a 4 Wheeler, ushered in by his Grandfather Pearson in anything but a flattering entrance. (no offense Greg)

Grandfather Poteet made a quick trip to Dallas to drop off the motor home. Here he is with Grandaughter 2, Avery.

What late summer would be complete without a trip to the State Fair of Texas? Here we are next to Big Tex (you can't see him in this picture).

Here is Avery with her two friends, Will and Preston.

The next few pics are from our big experiment of the year (other than parenthood). We "adopted" my grandfather's 1986 motor home from my parents. They had no real use for it and it was simply stored. So in order for us to logistically use our A&M season football tickets, we needed to have somewhere for Avery. So we dove head first into the tailgating scene. We joined up with the Worley's and our friend's parents to rent 3 RV parking spots at Reed Arena for the football season. We coordinated the satellite TV, food and everything else. And now the kids can take air conditioned naps and play while the mom's watch football and the guys walk to the game. This will change for the OU game since it's adult only though. But through a few games, the RV experiment has worked out pretty good and may even improve next year.

See if you can tell which RV is the 1986, 36foot long one?

It's on the left. The one on the right belongs to our friend's parents. We would set up in the middle to accomodate the high chairs, bouncers, exersaucers and of course coolers and Direct TV.

The Beaver motorhome. The Worley's (Worleybago) is on the other side of the Beaver.

Avery is wondering what is on top of her head...

I've been working with Avery on her open-field tackling and I believe she finally perfected it on this nice tackle of Preston in the Pack-'n- Play.

This is Avery screaming "Can you hear me now" in mom's blackberry.

October means pumpkin patch time. One of Kristi's friends was volunteering at their church patch and we all met up there to pick out pumpkins and let the kids check it out.

Here is Avery, Will and Preston.

Mom and Avery at the patch. It was so bright it was difficult to get a good smile out of Avery.

Here is Kristi with some of her girlfriends at the pumpkin patch (L to R, Courtney, Kelli and Emily).

So Halloween was upon us and the trick or treaters descended on our neighborhood. It was the weirdest sight. A Radio Flyer wagon carrying a skunk, a bumblebee and a dragon that refused to put on his head. This dragon seemed overly interested in the bumblebee's antenna.

The matching bumblebees. This is Danielle (Phillip's daughter), Avery's cousin. It was just by chance that the two girls ended up with the same costume.

Post-trick or treating! Hey, Will, keep the fingerprints off of the waxed hood!
